Listen, it comes down to two things and two things only. How much are you eating and how much activity do you have in your life.
For some, their may be medical reasons. For most though, it is just a fact that they eat too much, have poor diets, and love driving through drive throughs for some greasy burger on a bun.
Have some self-responsibility and look in the mirror. Then decide what you are going to do about it. You do not have to start running marathons or bench press 300 pounds.
Just take a walk around the neighborhood a couple times a week. Stay away from the snack bar and don't eat right before bed time.
This country seems to have self-discipline and pride in the past. Now everyone seems to have some excuse or victim mentality. Get off your ass and do something.
